Actor Adam Deacon, 32, of Bethnal Green has been found guilty of harassment after directing death threats at the family of Doctor Who star Noel Clarke.

Clarke, 39, wrote and starred in the 2006 film Kidulthood, in which Deacon played the character Jay. Formerly friends, the two men ceased contact after a disagreement in 2011 over the title of the film Anuvahood, Deacon’s directorial debut.

The court heard that Deacon had sent streams of abuse on Instagram and Twitter over a protracted campaign of harassment, claiming that Clarke had bullied him.

The court heard that Deacon incited a fan to post 81 pictures of Clarke’s children on Facebook in a single day.

Deacon even posted photos of Clarke’s children next to an emoji of a gun. In response Clarke said: “It is a death threat isn’t it, really? If we are being honest. You just don’t know what is going to happen.”

Such was Clarke’s fear that he informed his children’s school, which promptly changed its security codes.

Deacon was convicted of harassment without violence at West London Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 20. He will be sentenced on August 20.
